Inaugural Extra Life 1UP Open a Success!

On Feb 29, Oklahoma City’s Thunder Blue joined forces with Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Extra Life for the inaugural 1UP OPEN to benefit sick and injured kids in all 77 counties. This event, sponsored by The OKC Thunder, Paycom, Oklahoma City University, and The Army brought video gaming tournaments to the Cox Convention Center and a Thunder Blue game. The event brought gamers as far away as Florida.

Smash, Rocket League, Tekken, Call of Duty and NBA 2k20 were among the tournaments where gamers won cash, medals, trophies and even court-side seats to a Thunder game! 1Up also featured the streaming skills of Ryan Ritter (Gamin’ 4 Aven) and 14-year-old Will Blalock (GUCCII) who collectively raised over $3k. Smash Champion Jestise Negron also attended showing off his gaming abilities by winning 1st Place to nobody’s surprise.

Extra Life and the OKC Thunder are already making plans for 1UP OPEN 2021!
