Retired Art Teacher Helps Collect Change for Kids
Associates at Walmart Neighborhood Market #5805 in Norman were sad to see their coin canister for their Children’s Miracle Network fundraising to help children of Children’s Hospital Foundation go. That’s when retired art teacher, Linda, came to the rescue, and Sparky, the dragon was created.
Linda was already known for her talent of paper mache when she created the bust of Sam Walton. Sam was placed near the entrance and helped remind people to wear their masks in 2020 and could even be found under the mistletoe around Christmas.
The store needed something really special to collect donations and here came Sparky the Dragon to save the day. Sparky has been such a hit with both kids AND adults at the Neighborhood Market. Sparky helped this location become the TOP fundraising location out of 20 stores beating several Sam’s Clubs and Supercenters! Thank you to Linda, Sparky, and all of 5805’s associates for working so hard to help Oklahoma’s kids!
Walmart and Sam’s Clubs raised over $533,000 in 2021 for Neonatal Research. This year their focus is on Pediatric Cancer Research. Since partnering with CMN Hospitals our Walmart and Sam’s Clubs have raised over $10.7 million for CHF. #HelpKidsLiveBetter
